CEIB calls for immediate resignation of the Cabinet

19 June 2014

/CROSS/ The only way out of the present situation has been open for one year now, namely - resignation now and immediately, non-dilatory holding of early elections, formation of a nationally responsible parliamentary majority to appoint a government which, on its part, would make this one and any future similar declarations irrelevant and pointless, stated the Confederation of the Employers and Industrialists in a CEIB declaration sent to media.

„Exactly one ago the Confederation of the Employers and Industrialists asked the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria to resign immediately and without any delay. As we stated then: „However, the situation at present offers us one and only alternative - to give the really active Bulgarian citizens the opportunity to elect a new parliament in new, democratic and fair elections. Without delay". CEIB was the only employers' organization that detected the threat and responded in conformity with the powers delegated to it. This was the unanimous voice of the Bulgarian employers and industrialists united in CEIB, who provide more than 800 000 workplaces per day and every day bear also the responsibility to keep them in spite of the inadequate acts of commission or criminal omission of those called to represent the sovereign of this country - the Bulgarian people.

During this one year period it became evident that the evaluations and concerns of CEIB were justified. Social justice and reforms were not achieved. The budget funds, advertised repeatedly, amounting to hundreds of millions of levs for the small and medium size business enterprises found another recipient. By their acts of commission or omission the state regulatory authorities and other competent institutions and authorities allowed serious, often irreparable, blows to be inflicted on the real sector, banks and the financial stability of the Republic of Bulgaria as a whole. Energetics is in collapse. We are still lacking adequate modern healthcare and education. Our EU funds were suspended. Our credit rating was downgraded. We were set out for a direction opposite to that of European and transatlantic values. It is difficult for some Bulgarians to say aloud who our allies are, and whom were are having problems with.

In this situation, there is only one way out and it has been open for a year. Namely - resignation now and immediately, non-dilatory holding of early elections, formation of nationally responsible parliamentary majority, to appoint a government which, on its part, would make this one and any future similar declarations irrelevant and pointless. In the meantime, no decisions of long-term nature should be made, as a result of which responsibility may be evoked.

Bulgaria and the responsible Bulgarian business need such a government".
