Charity Seen through the Lens Photography Contest Supported by Sopharma

3 July 2013

The Bulgarian Donorship Forum and Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation organized for the second year a photography competition to visualize and promote the philanthropy in society. Winning photographs, which competed in 9 categories as well as for Audience Award, were announced yesterday July 2, 2013 at exhibition opening ceremony presenting all nominated works.

The Audience Award went to Master Boyan and Owl - a photography taken by 12-year-old Ivaylo Atanassov. The photographs were rated by a jury consisting of Boris Missirkov, Elitsa Barakova, Vesselin Borishev, Krassimira Velichkova, Nadezhda Pavlova, Nadezhda Chipeva, Nikolay Vassilev and Yavor Popov. Prizes for the winners have been provided by contest sponsors Sopharma, Aurubis Bulgaria, Olympus, Odysseia-In and Photomania Magazine.

Indeed Charity Seen through the Lens provides opportunities to professional and amateur photographers to show different faces of philanthropy. In this year's edition of the contest some 300 photographs competed in 9 categories: Charity and Education, Charity and Health, Charity and Culture, Charity and Environment, Charity and Social Support, World Changing Volunteering, Charity through Children's Eyes (children up to 14 years only), My Hero (faces and actions of people having done something extraordinary for another person or cause), Charity Photo Story (group of 4 to 8 photographs).

The exhibition of all nominated photographs, including the winners, may be visited from 2nd to 8th of July in the Telephone House at 4 Gurko Street, City of Sofia. As of September the exhibition is going to travel through different communities of the country that competed and won the chance to present it to their residents. A special catalogue with photographs and texts to them, intended to be spread together with The Program cultural and information guide, was presented at the exhibition too.

The photography contest is supported by America for Bulgaria Foundation.
